His Heartbeat
Rating: PG
Pairing: Sari & Bumblebee (I don't care what you think, this couple is cute.)

Sari remembered when she was just a baby her father would carrier her and hold her close to him until she fell asleep. If anything, she remembered being able to hear her fathers heart as she was curled up in his arms. She remembered the soft, slow, consistent rhythm of his heart as she laid in his arms and fell asleep. The sound always seemed to lull her to sleep.

It was a normal day at the plant, not to much commotion was going on, so it was safe to say it was a peaceful afternoon. A now teenaged Sari, was sitting on Bumblebee's chest as he laid on the couch watching T.V. The news was on, so Bumblebee showed little interest in what he was watching, he was focused more on the young femme that was sitting on him. She didn't seemed to notice Bumblebee staring at her, she was busy looking at the news reports.

Sari had always been a great friend of Bee and it seemed like he would do anything to make sure she was safe and happy. But recently, so many things had happened so fast. Finding out that she wasn't completely human was a shock to the whole team but her new appearance was even harder for him to take in. He had never felt this was before and wasn't sure if something was wrong with him. It seems that every time he sees Sari, a strange feeling comes over him, though he isn't quite sure what it is. When ever he looks at her or hears her laugh, his spark always seems to pulse fast, as if it was going to burst out of his chest.

They continued to sit there watching T.V. until a movie came on. Sari was still sitting on his chest, and he was still looking at her beautiful face. Sari would let out a little laugh here and there during the movie,  and Bee's spark would follow up with a jump. As the movie continued to play though, he became a little more comfortable with her being this close to him. (This isn't so bad,) he thought to himself. (I don't understand why I feel this way, but I think I could get used to this.) Everything seemed fine, until Sari went from sitting to laying down on his chest. Bee could immediately begin to feel his face heat up. (Okay, maybe this is a little much.) He tried desperately  to stay calm and hoped that she wouldn't notice his embarrassment.

Sari Laid quietly on Bumblebee and tried not to move. Her head was resting on his chest and she was staring at the T.V. screen. She seemed to be watching the movie but she was focused on something else. As she laid there, she could hear a sound pounding in her head. She closed her eyes, trying to think of where she had heard the sound before. As she was thinking, the sound made her feel so weightless and she began to doze off. Before she went to sleep though, her eyes shot open, she had remembered. "A heartbeat," she whispered to herself. She could hear a pulsing sound coming from his chest as she laid there. She placed her hand over his chest so she could feel his spark beating. She never imagined she would hear this sound like this again, especially from Bumblebee.

They laid there for a while before either one of them said anything. Bumblebee had calmed down a bit and was amused with his friend being so close to him. Neither of them seemed to be aware of their surroundings, it was as if they were alone in the world. "Bumblebee," Sari's voice broke, what seemed like an eternity of silence. Her voice startled him making his spark jump, which she of coarse heard.

"What is it Sari?" Bee lifted his head slightly so he could see the femme's face. She looked so adorable laying on his chest.

"You have a nice heartbeat," she said as she nuzzled his chest. She loved the sound of his spark beating. It was strong and for some reason, a reason she didn't understand, was very fast. Bumblebee seemed confused with her statement. What's a "heartbeat"?, he though to himself. He tried to think if Sari, or any of his teammates, had used the word before but couldn't recall it.

"Um... Sari, what's a heartbeat?" He thought he might as well ask her.
Sari tilted her head slightly before she begun to sit up. "You don't know that is? Bumblebee slowly shock his head. Sari sat in silence for a while trying to think of how to explain to him. Her face lit up once she thought of an idea. "I understand why you don't get it, it's because you guys call your "hearts" sparks!" Bee became even more confused. Sari let out a giggle, "look." She grabbed his hand and placed it over his chest. They sat in silence for a minute. "See? That beat is your spark beat but humans call it a heartbeat." Bee's face began to heat up again, Crap! she was able to hear it this whole time! all the jumps it did! Bumblebee suddenly realized something, (She said she had a beat like this too.)

"Um...Sari," he was hesitant as he started to ask his question. Sari's eyes went from his chest plate to Bee's face. "You said the humans have spa-, I mean, heartbeats too, right?" He was trying to use the new word correctly. She nodded her head with a small smile. "Well... I was just wondering..." The question seemed so hear for him to ask. (Come on you idiot! Just ask her already!)

Sari's head tilted in amusement, Yes?" She asked in curiosity. She had never seen him act so strange around her.

Say it you glitch! "Is it okay it I could, um, listen to your heartbeat...?" Bumblebee looked down as soon as he finished his sentence. He waited to hear her response but she didn't say anything. Instead she got up and started to climb onto his shoulder. Bee sat up so that his back was leaning up against the arm of the couch. She reached his shoulder and gently placed his head  over her chest. She smiled as she saw his optics widen. He had never heard this before. It was such a strange sound and yet it was so comforting. Her heartbeat was soft and light, it was nothing like his. Hers was slow and steady. He powered down his optics as he listened, "It sounds so pretty," he said unconsciously. Her heart skipped and he powered up his optics quickly. (Crap! what did I just say. I'm such a slaggin'  idiot!)

"Thank you, Sari seemed amuses by his comment. Bee never thought he would get this close to his friend. He cared so much for her but his feelings for her seemed to be more then just a friendly relationship. He truly believed he had feelings for the young femme and now her just needed to find a way to tell her.

(How can I? She is my best friend, what would she think? I don't want to lose her but I want her to at least know. But will it work? She is a human, well a tecno-organic, but still! How will the others feel, and what will happen once i leave for...) Bumblebee shuddered at the thought of being recruited into the Elite Guard. When they had gone back to Cybertron they had told him that the war was still going on between the Decepticons over the galaxy and that he might be called in at random if help is needed. He didn't want to leave though, he loved his new life, it was as if this was his true home. He remembered the first time the team were planning to leave, Sari was so upset. He had told himself many times that she would be safer that way that it was meant to be that way. But truthfully, he didn't want to leave her side, he always wanted to be there when she needed a shoulder to cry on or when she woke up in the morning. He was willing to do anything for her, she had become his whole world.

He had close his optics as he continued to argue with himself about how to tell her his feelings. His head was still placed over her chest and he could still hear the soft pitter patter of her heart. He slowly powered up his optics as he pulled his head away from her chest. "Sari, I have a question." Sari shifted herself so that she could see his face. It didn't make things easier, but it didn't stop him from talking. "Would it be too corny to say that I..." (Say it you glitch head!) "I... love you?" He looked away from Sari, his mind was full of regrets as those last words left his mouth. He wondered if what he said was to much, and if she would be freaked out.  (Why would she? She only just heard an alien robot say that he loved her......slag...)

Sari wasn't sure what to think, she found it hard to believe what he had just said. He was her best friend and she always saw him as a humorous and happy person. When she looked at him now though, she saw a more sensitive and shy person. She could notice him always looking away, trying to keep his feelings hidden. She only no noticed how much she was to him, and how much they were to each other. She never had the heart to tell him how she felt because she was afraid that one day he would go away. Now they are waiting for the call from the Elite Guard to take Bumblebee away and she hadn't told him. She was so afraid to lose him. (Maybe this is why he choose to tell me now. He must be scared too.)

Sari placed her forehead against his and closed her eyes. "I don't want you to go. I want you to stay here, with me, forever." She could feel his face start to heat up as she continued to speak. "I love you Bee, and no matter what happens, I will always love you. So if the day comes when you have to go, I want you to remember as you fight, that I'll be here waiting for you to come home." She gave him a light kiss on the forehead as she felt tears start to form.

He sat in silence, he was so overwhelmed with emotions. He could feel some of her tears fall on his face. He pulled away from her and rubbed the tears off of her face giving her small smile. He slowly leaned in and gave her a kiss. She was finally his, he now had everything he wanted. As the continued to kiss, everything around them seemed to disappear. Nothing mattered to him anymore, he had everything he ever needed.

They continued to lay on the couch and now Bee was less nervous about her being so close. She continued to listen to his spark beating and she trailed her finger over ticklish spots causing his spark to jump. They had forgotten everything, the presence of their teammates, the war back on Cybertron, it was all a far off memory. The time they spent with each other now was precious and they savored every moment.

"You know, this is kinda nice Sari," Bee said as he started to stroke Sari's head, playing with her pigtails. "I always wondered what it would be like to be able to relax like this." Sari let out a giggle. She was starting to doze off as he continued to stroke her head.

With the Decepticons on Earth gone, it was quite and his communicator never went off. He hoped it would stay that way too. The only reason for it to ring would be if he was needed in the Elite Guard. He closed his eyes and tried to push the thought out of his mind. He never wanted to think of, not when everything in his life was going so perfect.

As the thoughts began to leave his mind, he noticed Sari had fallen asleep and he decided to do the same. Before he completely began to recharge he was woken up by a beeping sound.

His communicator.

This fic was supposed to be longer? That ending was too perfect for me to notice! ^^
